Combining an electrified version of the Kora (exotic looking 21 string West African harp) with Percussion and Electric Cello, the sound the trio produces has been described as “powerful and otherworldly”. The inherently beautiful sound of the Kora is expanded by subtle use of electronics to create a deeply textured sonic tapestry. Electric Cello brings depth and poignancy to the mix, while percussion from various world traditions adds power, drive and spice. Since returning from their first European tour ElectricKoraLand has now expanded their repertoire to encompass compositions involving beautifully crafted “Hang Drum’s” (devised by PANArt in Switzerland). The unique sound of the Hang Drums really complement the EKL aesthetic and will feature in their next Album for the next album for which they received funding from ArtsWA which will include collaborative visuals from VJZoo!
